The Venice access fee 2027 is returning, and the official calendar is now available. If you are planning a day trip to Venice next spring or summer, your first task is to check your exact travel date. Your second is to distinguish the confirmed calendar from the operating rules that are still being finalized.

This distinction matters. A search result describing a previous year’s price, payment deadline, or hotel exemption can sound current while giving you the wrong instructions for 2027. This guide explains what travelers can confirm today, what still requires an official update, and how to organize a comfortable Venice visit around the new calendar.

Venice access fee 2027: the confirmed essentials

According to the City of Venice announcement of October 15, 2026, the contribution will apply on 72 selected dates between March 26 and August 15, 2027, during the hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The announcement sets a maximum charge of €10, while leaving the detailed tariff structure and operating provisions to further measures.

The official payment website says the 2027 procedures will be announced by December 31, 2026. Therefore, this article does not present old advance-payment discounts, age thresholds, exemptions, or registration instructions as final 2027 rules.

Use the official Venice access contribution portal for current instructions and the municipal 2027 calendar announcement for the approved dates.

All announced Venice entry fee dates for 2027

The official calendar lists the following dates. All dates below are in 2027.

  • March: 26, 27, 28, 29.
  • April: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30.
  • May: 1, 2, 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, 31.
  • June: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 27.
  • July: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25, 30, 31.
  • August: 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15.

Do not simplify this list to “every weekend.” That shortcut can obscure individual dates and the longer holiday stretches. When comparing hotel nights or rail tickets, put your intended Venice date next to the actual calendar.

What is the Venice access contribution?

The Italian name is Contributo di Accesso, often shortened to CDA. English-speaking visitors also search for “Venice entry fee,” “Venice tourist entry tax,” and “Venice day trip tax.” These phrases refer to the access contribution, although they can easily be confused with other travel charges.

The official portal describes the contribution as applying to people present in Venice’s historic city during the designated dates and hours, unless an exemption applies. It is an administrative requirement, not an admission ticket to a museum, a church, or a guided experience.

You should keep several separate items in your travel budget: accommodation, transport, attraction reservations, guide services, and any access contribution that applies to you. Paying for one should never be taken as proof that all the others are covered.

What has not yet been finalized for 2027?

The key outstanding questions concern the detailed prices, eligibility for exclusions and exemptions, and the practical procedures for registration, payment, and checks. The municipality says further implementing measures will complete the framework.

That means you should be cautious with confident claims such as “everyone pays exactly €10,” “book three days ahead for the cheaper rate,” or “all hotel guests must follow this particular QR procedure.” Those statements require a current 2027 source before they can be used as instructions.

Likewise, the maximum amount is not a quotation for your particular visit. A ceiling and a final tariff schedule are different things. Wait for the official portal to explain the amount applicable to your circumstances and date.

The opening date for 2027 bookings is also to be announced. Seeing the calendar online does not, by itself, prove that the payment system is accepting valid 2027 purchases.

Who should check their position especially carefully?

Day visitors staying outside Venice

If you are visiting Venice for the day from another destination, make this check part of your arrival planning. Do not wait until you are standing outside Santa Lucia station with your whole party ready to start sightseeing.

A sensible preparation file includes your visit date, train or transfer booking, accommodation address, and a note to review the official access portal once the final 2027 instructions are published. That makes it easier to answer the portal’s questions accurately.

Travelers staying in a hotel or apartment

Ask your accommodation what applies to your exact booking after the 2027 rules are issued. Give the full address and your check-in and check-out dates. A property marketed as being “near Venice” may not be in the same administrative area as another property with a similar description.

Do not assume that a hotel reservation automatically completes every administrative step. Equally, do not purchase an access payment unnecessarily before checking whether your situation qualifies for a different treatment under the final provisions.

Families and travelers with particular circumstances

Check each traveler’s position individually. Family members can have different ages, residences, or reasons for entering the city. Avoid relying on an old blog’s threshold or a screenshot forwarded by another traveler.

If you believe a special exemption may apply, use the current official category description. A guide or hotel can help you understand the question, but the municipality determines the requirement and the evidence it accepts.

How to prepare for payment when the 2027 system opens

  1. Confirm the year and date. Make sure the page concerns 2027 and that your selected date matches your travel booking.
  2. Read the current eligibility rules. Decide whether payment, an exemption procedure, or another treatment applies.
  3. Use the official portal. Begin at cda.veneziaunica.it rather than an advertisement or an unfamiliar intermediary.
  4. Enter the correct traveler information. Check names, dates, and any requested supporting details before submitting.
  5. Save whatever proof the official system issues. Follow its instructions about presentation during checks.
  6. Recheck after material travel changes. A change of day, accommodation, or travel party may require further action.

These are preparation steps, not a claim that the final 2027 transaction screen is already available. Follow the live portal’s instructions if its workflow differs.

Does arriving early remove the requirement?

Do not use your train’s arrival time alone to decide. The official portal describes the requirement in terms of being in the historic city during the applicable hours. A person arriving before the start of the daily window and remaining into it should not assume that an early arrival creates an exemption.

When the 2027 instructions are complete, check how they address your full period in the city. Build the requirement into your itinerary instead of trying to infer a loophole from a timetable.

An early start can still be a pleasant sightseeing choice. It gives you room for breakfast, a calmer introduction, and a more flexible morning. Its practical benefits are separate from your administrative status.

Is the access contribution included in a private tour?

Do not assume it is included unless your service confirmation explicitly says so. A walking tour, private water taxi, gondola ride, and attraction ticket are distinct arrangements. Ask your provider which items it handles and which remain your responsibility.

For example, a couple might book an afternoon walk and a private boat experience. Their confirmation should explain the meeting point, duration, transport inclusions, attraction admissions if any, and the treatment of the municipal contribution. Clarity before arrival prevents a small administrative issue from interrupting the day.

Tour Leader Venice can help organize the sightseeing and logistics around your itinerary. Your exact access-fee obligations must still be checked against the final municipal instructions.

Three practical planning examples

A spring day trip from another Italian city

Start with the date, then your realistic time in Venice. Separate the time your train arrives from the time you can begin touring after finding the meeting point and dealing with bags. Once the official system opens, check the fee treatment for each member of the party.

Build one main cultural visit and one flexible neighborhood walk into the day. Leave a generous margin for the return train. Buying an access contribution does not reserve transport capacity or guarantee immediate admission at your chosen sights.

A multigenerational family staying overnight

Give the hotel the full family details it requests and ask for the current procedure. Keep access documentation alongside the hotel confirmation. Decide separately how much walking is comfortable and whether boat boarding is manageable for everyone.

A family can complete the paperwork correctly and still have a difficult arrival if nobody has checked bridges, luggage, or the distance from the landing point to the accommodation. The fee is one small part of a much larger comfort plan.

A private excursion including the lagoon

Ask for a written route and identify when you will be in the historic center. Do not infer the final territorial rules from the fact that the day includes a boat or an island. Review the official 2027 scope when it is published.

Allow time for weather and boarding conditions. A well-designed lagoon outing should remain enjoyable without depending on an unrealistic sequence of transfers.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Reading a 2026 tariff page as if it were the final 2027 policy.
  • Confusing the contribution with hotel tourist tax or museum admission.
  • Assuming a tour reservation automatically includes municipal paperwork.
  • Using “every weekend” instead of checking the full official date list.
  • Buying from an intermediary before checking the official portal.
  • Treating an exemption as confirmed without checking the new rules.
  • Leaving all documentation on one traveler’s phone without a backup.

How to make the visit feel less complicated

Complete the administrative check first, then return your attention to why you are coming. Choose a realistic route, a comfortable meeting point, and a small number of experiences that matter to you.

If you want architecture, plan a walk that has time for explanation rather than a succession of rushed photo stops. If your priority is seeing Venice from the water, choose an appropriate private boat experience and understand how boarding works. If someone in your party needs a slower pace, design the whole day around that requirement.
