Starting April 18, 2025, Venice has implemented an Access Fee for day-trippers visiting the historic city center. This initiative aims to manage overtourism and preserve the city’s unique heritage. Here’s what you need to know:
When and Where Does the Fee Apply?

Applicable Dates: The fee is enforced on 54 specific days between April 18 and July 27, 2025. These are primarily weekends and public holidays.

Time Frame: The fee applies daily from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM on the specified dates.

Geographical Scope: The fee is required for entry into Venice’s historic center. It does not apply to other islands in the Venetian Lagoon, such as Murano, Burano, or Lido.
How Much Is the Fee?

Standard Rate: €5 per person if booked at least four days in advance.

Last-Minute Rate: €10 per person if booked within three days of the visit.
Who Needs to Pay?
The Access Fee applies to day visitors entering Venice’s historic center during the specified dates and times.
Who Is Exempt?
Certain groups are exempt from paying the fee, including:

Overnight guests staying within the Municipality of Venice.

Residents of the Municipality of Venice and the Veneto Region.

Children under 14 years of age.

Students and workers commuting to Venice.

Individuals with disabilities and their companions.
